I am in alot of pain and because of where they are located I get headaches in the back of my head that spread to my neck. My neck feels as if it get stuckalot so when I turn it it makes these popping grinding noises. the doctor who found them doesnt really want to do anything. He wanted me to go to physical therapy for 6 weeks, i did and I got worse. Other than that he has done nothing. I live in a small place and have insurance that is only accepted in certain places. What should I do?

    1. physical therapy is one option there is also the option of having epidural steroid injections or facet joint injections depending on the location of the pain for that you would need to find an interventional pain mgt doctor. another option is there is a book sold on amazon called treat your own neck that give you different exercises and alternative treatments.

You don’t want surgery for bulging discs…a majority of people will get some form of bulging as we age..try traction,PT etc…give it time..it took my mother in law about a year to get over her pain etc..and she had/has DDD with her bulging disc

go straight to an orthopedic doctor. Don’t mess around with your spine or you’ll regret it later in life. I know, I’ve been disabled and on pain medication for the past 10 years from not addressing a problem right away with a proper doctor.

    4. This is what you do: you doctor, however fine he is, is probably afraid to do any surgery or, doesn’t have a surgeon in the area he can trust to do this type of surgery. Ask him right out.

I had four cervical vertebrae in my neck that slipped out due to discs that went bad. They were pushing into the spinal cord creating a steno sis. I was having spasms, tremors, etc, violent headaches. etc.

They finally decided to operate and fix them. All three had to be wired, screwed and cadaver bones fix in, along with my own eight hip bones. All the “spurs” along the top had to be trimmed, they were rubbing.
I’ve never had trouble with it since although the top ring of vertebrae they said, should have been done also, later.
