I’m considering taking Accutane for my acne and the thing I am most concerned about is the joint pains. I have no problem if when I stop the medication they will go away, but I had some people tell me that they now have bad shoulders or knees…um, can you please tell me your experience?

Well, I have to say that Accutane didn’t work for me at all, and the only side effect was that it made my acne even worse and itchy to boot.

accutane is a pretty dope medication, only thing is if your an athlete it will dry your mouth out like mad and it kind of feels like your dying, and lately ive had some serious joint pains and lower back pains, so just a heads up. It really works well tho and my face is clearing up like crazy, so if you have really bad and nodular acne I say go for it. Cheers, best of luck!

My son is 16 years old and has been taking Accutane. The only side affect he has experienced is very very dry skin. I recommend you ask your dermetologist what is best. Several blood tests has to be done while on this medicine. If you are a female, pregnacy tests every 3-4 weeks as well. I also recommend taking it for the full 12-20 weeks as your doctor prescribes. This will assure you won’t have to get back on it in the future. It really is working for my son.
Good Luck!

I took accutane before, it can help acne but it could also come back again too, mine did. I would try every other thing you could cuz the side effects are scary…ESPECIALLY for women cuz of the risk of birth defects. Also cause bone spurs in feet and yes, I have been off it a long time and have a lot of back pain but not sure if it’s directy related.
Listen to me I can help you- my skin is finally clear and I tried everything, including accutane.
-drink 8 glasses of h2o a day
-wash your face twice a day w/LUKEWARM h2o
-take a multi-vitamin w/o iodine and 50mg zinc
-if you pop a pimple, and its not ready, you can do more damage and it can scar. If you do have to and its ready, wrap your fingers in clean tissue and press down on either side of the zit, not in.
-use fade cream for spots or pigment gel on spot
-use clean PAPERTOWEL each time you wash face to pat dry…and don’t use fragrance in your laundry soap/dryer sheets especially for your pillowcases!!
-use a mild cleanser (Oil of Olay sensitive skin foaming cleanser) and toner (neutrogena alcohol free) twice a day, and a 2.5 benzoyl peroxide topically at night..if not working up it to 5%.For more education and good cheap products visit this website she, like I, really care about helping people w/skin problems. It really really helped me. Good luck!
