This is my fourth day with pain in the "back," in the area of my left shoulder blade. It feels like it's between my shoulder blade and my spine, rather like it's tucked slightly "under" my left shoulder blade. It's getting better now--after ibuprofen and taking it easy in movement--but there's still a residual sharp pain when I inhale deeply, especially when the inhalation in involuntary due to an oncoming yawn or sneeze.

My self-diagnosis is a muscle strain of some interior muscle that governs movement of the chest/ribs where they attach to the spine. I'm going to keep up the rest/ibu regimen for a few days and will report on results.

My husband is having issues as well. He has pain under his left shoulder. He is having a hard time breathing, coughing and stretching because its too painful.(He does have Asthma)
I dont know if it being on the left side as appose to the right side (as everyone else here is talking about) if that makes a difference. If anyone has any ideas please let us know. Like i said its the left side and not the right side - so maybe there might be a difference >.< who knows .... thx

I've had a pain in my back, below my shoulder, between my shoulder blade and spine on the right side for months now. I'm a right-handed, 24 years old female, and have no other symptoms aside from a pain that varies from no pain to intense pain that makes me want to cry. I also get a sharp pain when I yawn, every time I yawn regardless of whether or not I feel stationary pain. For the most part, my boyfriend's massages ease the pain for about a day but I feel bad asking him to massage me almost every night. I originally attributed the problem to sleeping strangely on a mattress that's too firm and saw some improvement when I switched mattresses but the pain is back and it's only getting worse. I've tried not using my right hand/shoulder to lift or carry anything and I'm currently experimenting with stretches. I think I'm going to visit a doctor soon and see what they have to say about it. Until then, guilty massages, a useless right appendage, and stretches. Will report on what the doc says whenever I get around to going. I also have a sneaking suspicion that stress plays at least a small part but I'm not 100% sure of it. This pain sucks!

I have been using this product for some months and have found it to be very effective removing the pain from my wrists and fingers completly..If I stop using it the pain does return and when I restart the complete removal of the pain takes about 2 days..In short I am very satisfied and will continue using it.
Thank You

Gallbladder problems can refer pain under the right shoulder. If you have pressure or pain in the sternum area, between and where your ribs meet in your chest...nausea or vomiting, especially after a fatty meal,I would see your GP. Good chance it is gallstones.

The best treatment for scoliosis is Active Isolated Stretching and Strengthening: The Mattes Method. Contrary to conventional opinion,
the spine can be corrected. Curvature in the spinal column happens by gradual progression. Straightening of the spinal column is just a reversal of this negative process. To do this you must work with a trained therapist in the Mattes Method.

I was changing gears in the car 2 days ago and all of a sudden I got pain in my back by my right shoulder blade. Any time I move anything above my waist, it hurts. I have to carry a pillow around to lean on when I sit. I can hardly do anything. And I have a cough which makes the pain worse. My husband tried to massage it but it hurt too bad. What's wrong with my back?

Solution:

I am recovering! I had pain under my left shoulder blade. It began feeling just like a pulled muscle but instead of getting better or staying the same, it got worse. I began to restrict my range of movement with burning muscle like pain and sharp pain that would escalate with movement. Then I could not inhale fully. I thought I would need to go to the emergency room because it was so painful to move or do anything.

Going to bed and thinking about the possibility of infection and my own mortality, I rummaged through the medicine cabinet. Found a full bottle of Amoxacillan prescribed to my daughter years ago, I followed the directions and overnight feel much better.

I would swear it was muscle. I had a board meeting last night at my Church and propped the metal chair under my shoulder blades and could take deeper breaths. Uncanny.

I got this too, my shoulder hurts when breathing in deeply, feels like it is coming from the socket. started last weds after lifting my toolbag up several flights of stairs.

I quit smoking 5 weeks ago and initially it felt like the pain was acroos my chest, have heard that this could be my lungs clearing out. Now the pain is just in my shoulder but is improving.

Had a massage of the ladyfriend last night which helped, gonna give it another weekn then see the doctor if no improvement.

I think it must just be a strained muscle???

I too have this feeling. I have been working out with weights and suspect it may be related to this. I have a certain numb spot on my back with what feels like skin tingling and pain, not deeper. It almost feels like I have a rash feeling when my clothing rubs against this area.
